HRSA Awards $2.7 Million to Help Women, Infants, Children and Youth
Affected by HIV/AIDS
HRSA Administrator Mary K. Wakefield, Ph.D., R.N., today announced $2.7 million in grants to eight organizations that provide HIV/AIDS services to women, infants, children and youth.
The awards are made under Part D of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, which funds primary care, medications and support services for low-income, un- and underinsured people living with HIV/AIDS.
Today’s grantees represent organizations receiving Part D grants for the first time. In total, 98 organizations received Part D funds in FY 2009, totaling $72.7 million.
“These grants support family-oriented medical care and support services, and make it easier for women and children affected by HIV/AIDS to gain access to clinical trials,” said Dr. Wakefield.
An agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, HRSA awarded $2.2 billion in Ryan White grants in FY 2009. Each year, more than 529,000 people affected by HIV/AIDS receive the care and services they need to live longer, healthier lives. Awards are listed below.
