HRSA's NHSC will sponsor a conference for new NHSC scholars in Norfolk, Va., to help them select their service site and introduce them to federal staff, program advisors and site representatives.

HRSA's SPNS program grantees funded under the “Innovative Methods of Integrating Buprenorphine Opioid Abuse Treatment in HIV Primary Care Clinics” initiative will meet New York City.
Advisory Council on Blood Stem Cell Transplantation (ACBSCT), April 28-29
The second ACBSCT meeting will take place in Rockville, Md. The council, which receives staff support from HRSA, was established to advise the HHS Secretary on matters related to activities of HRSA's C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program and National Cord Blood Inventory Program.
National Advisory Council on Migrant Health, May 4-5
This advisory council, which receives staff support from HRSA's Bureau of Primary Health Care, will meet in San Juan, P.R., to develop recommendations for the Secretary on health issues faced by migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families. This meeting is open to the public.
Advisory Committee on Organ Transplantation (ACOT), May 5-6
This advisory committee, which receives staff support from HRSA, will meet in Rockville, Md. The ACOT was established to help the HHS Secretary ensure that the organ transplantation system is grounded in the best medical science and to encourage public confidence in the system.
118th National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice Meeting – Biannual Meeting, May 6-7
The NACNEP will hold its biannual meeting in the Washington, D.C., area (location to be announced). The council, which receives staff support from HRSA's Bureau of Health Professions, advises the Secretary on policy issues such as workforce supply, and education and practice improvement.
National Farmworker Health Conference, May 6-8
This HRSA-supported conference will be held in San Juan, P.R., to provide training and technical assistance for migrant health programs nationwide.
Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry, May 7
This advisory committee, which receives staff support from HRSA, will meet in Rockville, Md. The committee provides advice and recommendations to the HHS Secretary on policy and program development relating to activities under Title VII, section 747 of the Public Health Service Act. The committee will finalize its seventh report on primary care settings serving as medical/dental homes. The meeting is open to the public.
Advisory Committee on Interdisciplinary, Community-Based Linkages (ACICBL) Meeting, May 7-8
The ACICBL, which receives staff support from HRSA, will meet in Rockville, Md. The committee advises the Secretary on policy, program development and other matters related to enhancing interdisciplinary, community-based training grant programs authorized under Sections 751-756, Title VII, Part D of the Public Health Service Act. The meeting is open to the public and will focus on health care workforce issues in rural America.
First All-Advisory Committee Meeting (Bureau of Health Professions), May 8
HRSA's Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr) will host its first All-Advisory Committee Meeting (AACM) in Rockville, Md. The AACM will bring together the four health professions advisory committees that receive staff support from HRSA's BHPr to discuss health professions workforce supply and demand, training and diversity, and their impact on access to primary health care. The meeting is open to the public.
Council on Graduate Medical Education Meeting (COGME), May 9
HRSA will hold the COGME biannual meeting in Rockville, Md. The council, which receives staff support from HRSA's Division of Medicine and Dentistry (Bureau of Health Professions), advises the HHS Secretary on policy issues affecting physician workforce and training. The 17-member council will hear presentations and discuss the impact of reimbursement on medical career choice. The meeting is open to the public.
Special Projects of National Significance Jail Initiative, May 19-21
HRSA's SPNS Jail Initiative grantee meeting will be held in Baltimore, Md. The initiative focuses on providing HIV and AIDS care and services to individuals in prison settings.
CDC/ HRSA Advisory Committee Meeting, May 20-21
The CDC/HRSA Advisory Committee on HIV and sexually transmitted diseases prevention and treatment will meet in Atlanta, Ga. The committee advises the CDC and HRSA on activities related to prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and other STDs.
Four Training Centers (TCs) Meeting - Partnerships: Building Cooperation for Action, May 28-30
HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau, in collaboration with CDC and SAMHSA, HHS' Office of Population Affairs/Office of Family Planning (OPA/OFP) and Office of HIV/AIDS Policy, will hold this meeting in New Orleans. The meeting goal is to increase collaboration regarding STD/HIV prevention and treatment, and to maximize use of Federal training resources. TCs include HRSA's AIDS Education and Training Centers, CDC's STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers, OPA/OFP Regional Training Centers, and SAMHSA's Addiction Technology Transfer Centers.
National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services, June 2-4
This 21-member advisory committee of rural health and human services experts, which receives staff support from HRSA, will meet in Chapel Hill, N.C., to make recommendations to the Secretary.
State Offices of Rural Health Regional Meeting, June 18-19
HRSA's Office of Rural Health Policy will hold the State Offices of Rural Health Region “D” annual meeting in Oklahoma City. The meeting will bring together government officials from Ariz., Calif., Hawaii, Nev., N.M., and Okla., to discuss rural health issues and concerns at the regional and national level.

HRSA's Office of Rural Health Policy will hold the State Offices of Rural Health annual Region “A” meeting in Williamstown, Mass. The meeting will bring together grantees from Conn., Del., Mass., Maine, Md., N.H., N.J., N.Y., R.I., Penn., and Vt., to discuss emerging rural health issues at the regional and national level.
Primary Health Care All-Grantee Meeting, June 23-25
HRSA will hold its 2008 Primary Health Care All-Grantee Meeting at the Gaylord National Convention Center, National Harbor, Md. Based on the theme “Making the Connection,” the conference will enable participants to share effective practices and provide training and technical assistance on program and grant requirements.
National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) Technical Assistance (TA) Meeting, July 9-11
The HRSA-funded NASTAD, recipient of a cooperative agreement to support HIV training and TA, will hold a TA meeting in Washington, D.C., for new HRSA AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) state directors and other ADAP staff. |
