HRSA-Sponsored Conferences and Meetings

Council on Graduate Medical Education, November 18-19

HRSA's Bureau of Health Professions will host a plenary meeting for the Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME) in Rockville, Md., to discuss the Council’s upcoming 20th report on the primary care physician workforce. The agenda includes presentations on the role of MedPAC in health reform, its implications for COGME, and the adequacy of the general surgery workforce. 

62nd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America,   November 18

HRSA's Division of Diversity and Interdisciplinary Education will sponsor a pre-conference workshop at this Atlanta meeting on “Multi-Site Evaluation in a Geriatrics Education Context: Integrating Site-Specific Results.” HRSA funds the National Training and Coordination Collaborative Contract, whose staff will discuss ways to coordinate data collected in multi-site evaluations during the workshop.

Midwest Stream Farmworker Health Forum, November 18-21

The Midwest Stream Farmworker Health Forum, supported in part by HRSA, will be held in South Padre Island, Texas.  The meeting will focus on training, technical assistance and networking for Migrant Health Programs.  

121st Meeting of National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice, November 19-20

HRSA’s Division of Nursing, which supports the work of the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP), will convene a two-day meeting at the in Rockville, Md.  This meeting (the first of two in FY 2010) will examine the role of nursing in primary care and implications for workforce, practice models and reimbursement.  

National Health Service Corps Forum, December 4

HRSA's Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service will host the third in a series of National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Forums in Austin, Texas, to identify the most effective ways to develop partnerships, collaboration and communication among key NHSC stakeholders.

Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines, December 4-5

The Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines, which receives HRSA staff support, will meet in Rockville, Md., on Thursday, December 4, from 1 - 5:30 p.m. and on Friday, December 5, from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  (The public may join via audio conference by calling 1-888-323-2713.)  The agenda will include updates from HRSA's Division of Vaccine Injury Compensation; DOJ's National Vaccine Program Office; CDC's Immunization Safety Office; NIH's National Institute of Allergy and Infections Diseases; and FDA's Center for Biologics, Evaluation and Research.  

Consumer-Provider Partnership for Care Program, December 8-12

HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau will host a training and technical assistance series, ''The Consumer-Provider Partnership for Care Program,'' for HRSA's western region in Los Angeles. The series targets Part D grantees, and will help HIV health care agencies develop partnerships between their staff and HIV-positive women consumers for outreach to women with HIV who are not yet in care.  Part A, B and C Ryan White grantees may also participate.

State Primary Care Offices Meeting, December 8-10

HRSA will hold a meeting of State Primary Care Offices (PCOs) in Rockville, Md., to address the development of performance measures and to discuss the NHSC program, primary care, and shortage designations.  PCO directors and staff who work on National Health Service Corps (NHSC) and Shortage Designation activities will participate along with representatives from the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health, the National Association of Community Health Centers, and the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials.

Children's Hospital Graduate Medical Education Technical Assistance Workshop, December 10-11

HRSA's Bureau of Health Professions will host this biennial workshop in Rockville, Md. Chief financial officers and medical directors at freestanding children’s hospitals will participate.  The workshop will include presentations by HRSA CHGME staff on resident FTE assessments, the Web-based application system, annual report requirements and an introduction to the CHGME payment program.  

Advisory Committee on Interdisciplinary, Community-Based Linkages: Conference Call, January 14, 2010

HRSA's Bureau of Health Professions will host the first of three annual meetings of the Advisory Committee on Interdisciplinary, Community-Based Linkages via telephone conference call.  Participants will develop detailed plans for the two in-person meetings scheduled for April and August 2010 to prepare the committee’s 11th annual report to the Secretary and Congress.
